Description: In 1963 a 24-year-old designer at Shelby American, Peter Brock, convinced Carroll Shelby to let him design a closed coupe version of the Shelby Cobra specifically aimed at beating Ferraris 250GTO on the high-speed European courses. The first test for the new coupe would be at Daytona in 1964 and it was dubbed the Daytona Coupe. The innovative shape was the eventual undoing of the GTO and it went on to walk away with the title in 65. Superformance in South Africa has now teamed up with Peter Brock himself to design a version of this famous race car for the street. The new car is actually better than the original in almost every way. The aerodynamics have been cleaned up with modern wind tunnel testing, the frame is a specially-built tubular space frame with coil overs and massive disc brakes at all four corners. These cars have been tested at speeds in excess of 200mph and handle superbly. The rolling chassis can be fitted with a variety of small and big block engine and various transmission combinations.
